Review: A Torch Against the Night
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
After finishing An Ember in the Ashes, I was eager to read the sequel. I was so drawn in by this book that I read it in less than a day. I bought it on the 29th and was done by 2am on the 30th. I absolutely loved it.
If you haven't read An Ember in the Ashes, I'd recommend you not read the rest of the review because it will spoil the first book. This story begins with Elias and Laia running from the Masks after Laia stops Elias' execution. It follows them across the continent as they try to get to Kauf Prison to save Darrin from execution. They are racing against the clock though as more and more lives become endangered.
I think I liked A Torch Against the Night a little more than An Amber in the Ashes, but I still love both books. I think that this book really went into more depth with the magical elements of the world what with the Night Bringer and the Waiting Place. I definitely cried a few times reading this just because it was so shocking and exciting, and I was reading it late at night. If you read An Ember in the Ashes, I would definitely recommend continuing with this series because it is getting very exciting. I want the third book now!
