Review: The Wrath & the Dawn
The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I was excited to read this book, as it seemed like a really interesting story. It was fairly predictable, but exciting enough to keep me entertained. I read this over a few days in August, and was absolutely enthralled. This is a story about a young woman marrying a seemingly murderous king so she can hopefully save her family and avenge her best friend. Little does she know that this king is not as murderous of tyrannical as he may seem. I know that this sounds a little silly and maybe reminiscent of the Beauty and the Beast story, but I swear it was a very fresh read. I loved the strength of Shahrzad and the vulnerability of Khalid. From the start, I knew that something was up with Khalid and the death's of his wives. He didn't seem like a great person, but he also didn't seem like the kind of man that could kill over a hundred women. Anyway, I don't want to spoil too much about the plot of this book because I think it is best to go into a book with as little plot information as possible. All I'll say is that this book is romantic, beautiful, exciting, and surprising.
